Call St., Eastlund Concrete, 2005

Continuing my brief tour of the 800 block of Call Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues: this stamp is from the south side of the block. Eastlund Concrete stamps are common enough, but it’s the misprint of the date that got my attention.

Hickory St., DPW, 1921

This Department of Public Works stamp is on the north side of Hickory Street between Jones and Holmes. I’ll always collect a diagonal DPW stamp; they seem almost always to be from 1921. This one has a further quirk in that the year has been stamped upside-down at a rather haphazard angle.

I suspect this one is actually a pair to another diagonal one a couple of lots east on Hickory, close to the corner of Holmes.

N. Magnolia Ave., Barnhart & Sons, 1988

What do we have here, on the west side of North Magnolia Avenue between Vine and Fernwood? It’s kind of a mess. The date is upside down, and then the name is stamped twice, presumably because the first one didn’t come out as well as they hoped.

Barnhart, I think you need to have a word with your sons.

Looking north on North Magnolia. Fernwood is in view.
